New draft regulations have been laid before Parliament and will come into effect on 1 April 2016.
The National Minimum Wage (Amendment) Regulations 2016 makes provision for the National Living Wage to be calculated by adding together the living wage premium and the main national minimum wage (NMW) rate. The living wage premium is set at 50 pence.
Therefore with effect from 1 April 2016 adults aged 25 years or older will receive the new hourly rate of £7.20.
